Production

Production set

The idea for the set was created by looking at other podcast sets such as The misfits podcast where I took different elements of their sets to help create my set.

What I took from the misfits podcast was the table set up 2 people in one side 2 on the other and usually 4 sets of microphones and headphones that the cats use to monitor their audio, but since I couldn't find that equipment I used radio mics instead and mounted them on top of the 3 cameras I used.

Those 3 cameras held 3 different shot types.

Cam1 had a close up on Liam and Lewis on the right side of the table.

Cam 2 held a wide shot on the entire table showing me on the left and Lewis and Liam on the right.

Cam 3 held a close up shot on me on the left.

The reason I chose these 3 camera angles is that they give the audience all the visual information they need to stay interested.
I also used these as they are used in other popular podcast's such as the Misfits podcast and the Joe Rogan podcast.

After Shoot

I ended up not using a camera crew as I thought I didn't really need them. But I realised I needed them after the production because during post production I found that Lewis radio mic malfunctioned as it was crackling as well as peeking both that could've been fixed by camera crew as our radio mics were linked up to each camera .

The way I solved is problem is by cutting Lewis's mic completely and using just me and Liam's as Lewis was being picked up by Liam's mic.

What I did was raise the decibel level so you could hear Lewis and Liam so I didn't have to re-shoot the podcast.

The Opening Sequence

The plan for my opening sequence was to use a combination of graphics and shots of the podcast kind of like The friends intro.

The music I used for the opening sequence was the first few seconds of Ladbrook Grove by AJ Tracey as it has hit the charts in the UK as well as listened to by my target audience range (15-30yrs) I also use admire snippets of the song for my transitions for each subject of discussion during the podcast.

Editing screenshots

In this screen shot I an showing the type of editing I an doing which is a synced multi camera edit, the way you can tell this is by looking at the timeline as the video bar is green instead of the usual blue as it shows that the visual files are synced.

This screenshot shows me trying to merge 2 different timelines of 2 different sections of the podcast as when I was looking through the footage I realised that it was way too long so I cut it down to 2 content full sections about 2 different topics and edited them separately.

This shows how I connect the intro to the podcast to the start of the footage and I do that by using a dip to black for the footage and a constant gain for to transition to the podcasts audio.

Final Video

This final cut could be a lot better because after getting feedback I have been suggested for my future projects to use After effects as its a program I haven't touched yet and using that software could improve my grade in my FMP.
